group of three very unusual 19th century solid pine wood hand hewn residential structural foundation posts or pillings with notched sections

three distinct 19th century original and unaltered (i.e., cleaned) solid pine wood structural and/or load-bearing residential foundation posts salvaged from a victorian era chicago worker's cottage undergoing demolition. the solid hand-hewn wood circular-shaped pilings were used to support the interlocking mortised and tenoned sill plates containing the vertical studs used for framing out the cottage. the solid wood pilings were found closely spaced under any and all sill plates, including the massive centrally located summer beam running parallel with the sill plates or timbers. the posts were likely used as a temporary foundation when the cottage was moved to the back of the lot in preparation for constructing the two flat brick residence. priced for the lot of three. posts measure 66, 72, and 73 inches in height with a diameter of 8 inches.
