single original and intact explosion and/or vapor-proof ceiling fixture was designed and fabricated by the appleton electric company, chicago, il. the fixture retains the original impact-resistant threaded end clear glass bulbous globe or "jar" surrounding the light source. the tapered conduit body and socket housing are made of heavy aluminum and cast iron. the weather-resistant ceramic socket is original and intact. the large bowl-shaped reflector contains a green porcelain enameled finish over cold-rolled steel.
