late 19th century all original and intact solid carved wood interior residential salvaged chicago four-sided staircase newel post finial or cap with intricately carved richardsonian romanesque leafage. amazingly, the original stained finish is intact and uniform throughout. the large newel cap was salvaged from a chicago residence undergoing demolition. Item measures 7 3/4"h x 6 3/4"w x 6 3/4"d.
