early 20th century nicely worn and weathered antique american industrial weathered and worn painted wood portable tool chest once used by a chicago area railroad roundhouse mechanic who has since passed on. the exact fabricator is not known. the chest belonged in the mechanic's family for generations. the opposed cast iron handles remain intact. the lockable hasp is largely missing. the bottom left corner contains three pull-out diminutive drawers with recessed finger pulls. the hinged lid or top is original and intact. the old paint finish has been lightly cleaned. measures 30 x 17 x 14 1/2 inches.
