original and intact early 20th century american industrial "loxon" galvanized steel incandescent light bulb guard or cage designed and fabricated by the mcgill mfg. co., valparaiso, ind. the lamp guard was originally outfitted with specialized screws that could be removed with the use of a key made exclusively by the manufacturer. the openings have since been replaced with regular threaded set screws. the galvanized finish remains largely intact. surface age consistent with age. measures approximately 6 inches long with a 4 inch diameter.
