original c. 1870's antique american victorian era interior residential black enameled decorative cast iron fireplace surround with matching pierced metal summer cover. the two detachable components were likely fabricated by or for henry dibblee & co., chicago, il. the decorative summer cover features a centrally located sunken panel with projecting oversized cartouche replete with foliated scrollwork. the rounded edge surround and matching cover remain in great overall condition. surround measures 28 1/2 x 30 1/2 inches and the insert measures 18 1/2 x 26 1/2 inches.
