original early 1930's american vintage wall-mount cast bronze elevator cab car call push button backplate fabricated by or for the otis elevator company, new york city, ny. the rectangular-shaped backplate contains the words "up" and "down" with corresponding push button openings (mechanics were removed long ago). the otis company logo, in the form of a diminutive medallion or rosette remains intact. the topmost opening would likely have had an amber colored glass lens indicating that the car was "called." nicely aged surface patina left intact. salvaged from a downtown chicago commercial building. measures 9 1/4 x 2 3/8 inches.
