original and intact c. 1920's vintage american industrial elevator cab operator stool removed from a chicago commercial building undergoing upgrades. the swivel seat stool is supported by a multi-faceted and tapered cast iron base with original black porcelain enameled finish largely intact. the flared floor plate contains pre-drilled holes for mounting firmly against the cab's floor. the all original varnished oak wood chair contains a spacious saddle seat with contoured backrest containing closely spaced vertical splats. two opposed bent wood brackets secure the backrest against the seat. the elevator chair or stool is attributed to the chicago hardware foundry co., chicago, il. seat height measures 25 1/2 inches.
