original 19th century antique american eastlake style interior residential ornamental cast bronze passage door single keyhole escutcheon fabricated by the p. & f. corbin co., new britain, ct. the highly desirable "brocade" pattern backplate was designed and patented by george s. barkentin in april of 1882. the passage door escutcheon features a unique field pattern consisting of lightly incised circular rosettes. the surface patina is mostly uniform throughout. backplate measures 2 x 6 3/4 inches.
