original and intact reinforced pressed transparent "visible" glass mailbox designed and fabricated by the holton company of chicago, ll. the mailbox was designed so that the householder could view the box without having to go outside to check the mail. the original lightweight aluminum fittings remain intact. the mail is accessed through the bottom door. the majority of the glass mailboxes were fabricated in the 1920's be a few different manufacturers. the george collins glass company fabricated this type of glass mailbox, dubbing it the "invisible" mailbox. with the fittings or hardware included, the textured aqua green glass mailbox measures 12 x 5 x 3 inches.
