original c. 1880's american victorian era ornamental cast bronze residential entrance door backplate or escutcheon, possibly fabricated by russell & erwin or p. & f. corbin. the oversized doorknob backplate contains two keyholes (with the bottom hole reserved for the "master" key). the wrought brass thimble or collar remains intact. surface wear evident. measures approximately 7 x 1 3/4 inches.
