exceptional "cherub" doorknob manufactured by the branford locks works hardware co. dates to the 1880's. the figural knob features a deep relief casting with a "phoenix bird rising from the flames of rebirth". cherub is grasping a torch with flame finial. fluted edging along the rim of the knob. nice, uniform patina. the doorknob measures 2.5" diameter.
