one of two matching pairs of all original c. 1930's american antique depression era hard to find and highly collectible art deco style figural "electric log" fireplace andirons designed and fabricated by the universal electric log co., chicago, il. the heavily ornamented andirons are comprised of cast iron with the original antique gold enameled finish largely intact. each andiron exhibits a vast range of decorative design motifs drawing upon an eclectic blend of elegant and stylish trapezoidal, zigzagged, geometric, and jumbled shapes, coupled with elements of the more "primitive" arts of africa, ancient egypt and aztec mexico. the figural cast iron female busts or profiles exhibit intricate and striking detail throughout. the overall casting detail is truly exceptional. the oversized uniquely-shaped shields resting atop the female heads are detachable. priced for the pair. a total of four identical figural andirons available. measures 9 x 3 x 24 inches.
