vintage oversized c. 1920's american industrial handheld turned wood handle "trouble light" with split-cage guard

c. 1915-25 american industrial portable factory machine shop "trouble light" designed and fabricated by or for the general electric company, schenectady, ny. the handheld incandescent lamp contains a unique and unusual oversized split-cage bulb guard with interlocking bronze hinge found at the center. the individual wrought steel bars are riveted against a steel collar affixed to the handle. the bent steel swivel hook is original and intact. the finely turned solid wood maple handle contains a bronze collar used to hold the keyless edison socket firmly in place.
