finely made all original late 19th century antique american victorian era ornamental cast iron interior residential fireplace surround and matching summer cover designed and fabricated by the peerless mfg. co., louisville, ky. the metallic gold enameled surround features curvaceous vines with leafage and birds. the detachable perforated summer cover contains an elegantly designed centrally located panel featuring a pastoral scene with foliate and animals. the cover and matching surround are in great overall condition. salvaged from a st. louis rowhouse constructed in the 1890's. measures 29 x 30 inches
