unusually shaped late 19th century antique american decorative cast brass doorknob backplate possibly fabricated by trenton or perhaps hopkins and dickenson. the interior residential backplate contains a pyramidal-shaped collar or thimble adorned with abstract floral motifs. the crenellated top features an abundance of floral motifs. the backplate contains a single keyhole and two screw holes. mostly uniform surface patina. measures approximately 7 1/2 x 2 inches.
