unusual early 1920's heavy duty fully adjustable refinished cast iron and steel optician's work stand with three-legged mobile base and varnished oak wood tabletop

original and fully functional c. 1920's antique american weighted cast iron three-legged medical work stand designed and fabricated by the bausch & lomb optical co., rochester, ny. the refinished base features a fully adjustable threaded steel spindle that supported a tabletop (removed long ago) containing optician's testing equipment. the spindle moves up and down by rotating the oversized dial or disc with raised edge. the three outswept legs retain the original bassick casters. the stand has been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the newly added oak wood tabletop contains a mitered joint apron on all four sides. great overall condition.
