original and intact victorian era antique american ornamental cast iron brushed metal bookstand base. the fabricator is not known. the late 19th or early 20th century mobile stand retains the original functional swivel casters. the brushed metal finish has been sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the central post moves up and down with ease.
