unique single-sided freestanding chrome-plated cast bronze first national bank teller cage pilaster john dillinger-robbed

single c. 1929 highly polished chrome-plated ornamental cast bronze bank building pilaster urn-shaped finial salvaged from the first national bank and trust company building in east chicago, ind. the classical revival style finial feature a tapered urn with egg & dart trim and torch the pilaster is fluted from top to bottom. the acanthus leaf capital resting below the finial is very intricate in design. only one complete pilaster remaining with original finial. the interior bank lobby pilasters were positioned between each teller cage. the first national bank was designed by architect/engineer john rahn in the neoclassical style. the bank was robbed in 1934 by john dillinger. the finial measure 8 inches in height, with a 3 inch base. the depression era ornamental bronze bank architectural artifact is in remarkable condition. exact fabricator unknown.
