unusual early 20th century antique american single-sided reverse-painted thick plate glass "justice of the peace" hanging sign with fanciful scalloped edges. the backside of the sign contains a black enameled background with metallic gold foil lettering. the original steel hangers and chain remain intact. the pressed and folded sheet metal sleeve" encasing the glass panel is original. the hanging city or town courthouse hanging sign wad likely fabricated by the art glass novelty co., dundee, mi. no breaks or cracks evident. measures 12 3/4 x 5 inches.
