pair of original late 19th century refinished american ornamental cast iron interior residential doorknob backplates or escutcheons likely fabricated by branford lock works, branford, ct. the matching backplates contains fluted thimbles, single keyholes and two screw holes for mounting purposes. the cast iron plates have been sealed with a clear coat lacquer. measure approximately 5 1/4 x 1 1/2 inches. priced for the pair.
