original and largely intact 19th century american industrial stationary four-legged draftsman stool likely fabricated by the eugene dietzgen co., principal factory, chicago, il. the high stool contains four hardwood flared legs with cross-bracing towards the bottom. the cast iron spindle seat and threaded steel rod are in excellent working condition. the original swiveling varnished birch wood seat contains a slightly sunken center. both steel and iron components have been carefully cleaned and brushed down to bare metal. salvaged from the offices of an old chicago architectural firm. seat height adjusts from 30 to 33 inches.
