late 19th century all original antique american victorian era ornamental cast iron residential newel post designed and fabricated by the dearborn foundry company, chicago, ills. the robust cast iron post features a unique pyramidal-shaped finial. the circular openings are designed for use with steel pipe railings. the exterior salvaged chicago newel post contains a mostly uniform black enameled finish. 4 x 4 x 36" base plate 7 1/4 x 7 1/4"
