original and intact late 1940's american vintage industrial roberts electric company interior machine shop stairway illuminated exit pendant light fixture designed and fabricated by the western fluorescent light company, chicago, ill. the pendant light retains the original pressed and folded steel "can" containing a single light bulb socket. the removable glass slide has a red and white reverse baked enameled finish. the tubular pole and ceiling canopy are original the the illuminated fixture. the industrial exit light was recently salvaged from the roberts electric company, chicago, ills. the machine shop and factory were formally located in the historic fulton market district. the company specialized in fabrication components used in military aircraft. measures 10 1/4 x 4 1/4 x 34 inches.
