all original 19th century salvaged chicago antique american 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 inch patented thistle or holly pattern floral fireplace tiles executed by the united states encaustic tile company, indianapolis, ind. the salvaged chicago tiles are in good condition with most of the mortar carefully removed from the backsides of the tiles. the richly colored mottled deep green tiles date to the 1890s. priced for the lot.
