original c. 1894 louis sullivan-designed chicago stock exchange building first floor three-arm cast bronze wall sconce with amazingly intact japanned copper finish applied to backplate, tubular arms, and early mica paddle switch sockets.
the original hairpin carbon filament incandescent light bulbs were lightly etched with words "stock exchange" to discourage theft. thankfully, original bulbs dating to the time the building was completed were found during its demolition in 1972.
