late 19th century original american industrial freestanding "companion" foot-operated wood lathe repurposed into a stationary side table or console for residential and/or commercial settings. the two matching decorative cast iron lathe machine bases were designed and fabricated by the millers falls company, millers falls, mass. the newly added tabletop consists of cedar wood with a slightly recessed four-sided apron. the wood has been burned and brushed to produce a unique surface grain and texture. the cast iron bases were brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. measures 47 1/2 x 15 x 32 inches.
