refinished original american depression era c. 1930's ornamented cast iron weighted "welfare" school classroom adjustable height chair base with telescoping post affixed to a sanded and sealed maple wood tabletop. the repurposed nightstand or sidetable is secure and stable. the cast iron base was likely fabricated by or for woodruff & edwards inc., elgin, ill. the brushed and sanded metal finish has been sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the maple wood top is tightly affixed to the stationary base. the "welfare" school chair base was salvaged from a chicago public school. only one available. measures 20 1/2 x 20 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches.
