one of a kind, historically significant 19th century victorian era american stained glass transom window designed and fabricated by the notable firm of mcculley & miles, chicago, ills. impressive design with vibrantly colored glass, further enhanced with interspersed jewels, pressed glass roundels with fanciful designs and chunk glass. removed from a potter palmer residence built nearby his mansion on the chicago gold coast. palmer built several large houses on chicago's near north side between 1889 and 1891. the grand brownstone palmer residence from which this came, was built in the 1890's. potter palmer's mansion was designed by henry ives cobb in 1882. sadly, the castle-like structure was torn down in the 1950's. however, several palmer residences within the immediate vicinity remain extant and largely intact. the window measures 52 x 23 1/4 inches.
