very clean and well-maintained original late 19th century american antique residential fireplace mantel designed and fabricated by the voss mantel company, louisville, ky. the full mantel is comprised of lightly stained quartered or quarter-sawn white oak wood. the original rectangular-shaped beveled edge back mirror remains intact. the mantle contains two sets of solid deeply grooved or fluted columns with ionic style capitals. the frieze and over-mantel contain a simple, yet elegant repeating bead pattern. salvaged from a chicago graystone residence undergoing demolition. measures 61 x 10 x 78 inches.
