c. 1900''s american antique industrial stationary typist desk or parlor chair designed by and patented by clement uhl for the toledo metal furniture company, toledo, oh. the versatile chair has a folded riveted joint steel frame with original wood seat. the open seat back consists of metal strips folded over and molded into a heart-shape, which flares outward to join the seat. there are four cabriole legs made of the same folded steel bolted to the circular seat frames. three strips of steel, pinched together in the center and flaring above and below, form the splats. brushed metal finish with remnants of original copper-plated "wash." the chair is known as the uhl art steel "perfection" chair, number 151. seat height measures 18 inches.
