salvaged chicago antique american industrial auxiliary spring gauge designed and fabricated by or for the standard gauge mfg. co., syracuse, ny. the refinished bronze bezel gauge was salvaged from the oscar heinerman warehouse (1918) during its demolition. the fittings, faucet handle and plate glass dial face are original and intact. brushed finish sealed with a clear coat lacquer. construction of the oscar heineman silk company factory complex began in 1918. one of the four buildings has been converted into the silk factory lofts. the warehouse and administration office building is currently undergoing demolition. the silk factory complex was built using red face brick accentuated with ornamental bedford (indiana) limestone. the general contractor on record was r.c. wieboldt and the architectural firm was lockwood, greene, and company. urban remains obtained salvage rights shortly before the administration building faced demolition.
