uniquely configured "tanker" style c. 1950's american vintage industrial freestanding compartmentalized filing cabinet possibly fabricated by the steelcase metal office furniture co., grand rapids, mi. the incredibly heavy duty cabinet is comprised of heavy gauge cold-rolled steel with a uniform brushed metal finish, treated with a clear coat lacquer. the sliding drawers are equipped with brushed aluminum handles and opposed label or placard holders. the base consists of of a simple apron resting above four square-shaped tubular steel legs, capable of withstanding significant amounts of weight. there are two matching cabinets available. salvaged from a chicago factory specializing in the fabrication of steel springs. measures approximately 20 1/4 x 28 x 51 inches.
