original american depression era cold-rolled furniture sheet steel simmons writing desk designed and fabricated by the simmons mfg. co., kenosha, wisc. the stationary table or desk contains a single drawer with the original opposed cylindrical-shaped handles or pulls intact. the desk was likely used in an old hotel when painted steel "fireproof" furniture was popular. the single drawer with spacious interior moves with ease. the square-shaped tubular legs and stretchers are structurally sound and stable. great overall condition. the brushed metal finish has been sealed with a clear coat lacquer. measures 36 x 20 x 30 inches.
