original hard to find late 1960's fully functional chicago city park spring-loaded pelican "saddle mate," complete with cylindrical handle bars and stationary tubular steel footrest. the distinctive and highly desirable nicely worn figural playground apparatus is comprised largely of reinforced cast aluminum with the original polychrome enameled finish largely intact. the playground pelican was likely designed by robert s. wormser for game-time inc., litchfield, mi. the freestanding spring-loaded aluminum animal exhibits an allover weathered and worn surface finish consistent with age. the rare playground device was salvaged from a chicago park long ago. two of the original three playground animals are available for sale. priced individually. measures 28 x 15 x 31 inches.
