original and well-maintained early 19th century antique american primitive painted pine wood portable cabinet or chest. the furniture fabricator is not known. the plain and unornamented wood chest contains a single hinged top, concealing a spacious, undivided interior. the cabinet was constructed with square nails. surface wear consistent with age. contains a pre-civil war newspaper interior lining. 24-1/4" L x 14" D x 11" H.
