exceptionally designed late 1930's american art deco style interior residential five-light streamlined style five-light slip shade ceiling fixture designed and fabricated by markel electric products, buffalo, ny. the remarkable ceiling fixture retains the original butterscotch-colored ribbed or fluted glass slip or "slipper" shades free from cracks or breaks. the fixture body with stepped or tiered bottom, retains the original "venetian bronze" plated finish. the tapered and steeped bottom finial serves as a rotating switch to turn the fixture's lights to various settings (i.e., have only a few lights on, entirely off or on and so on). the central grooved shaft or collar used to conceal the threaded steel rod, contains brass rings or caps. the globe or ball resting atop the tubular shaft features three embossed "speed" rings for added accent. the chain and canopy are original to the fixture. fixtures measures 19 inches in diameter, shades measures approximately 4 1/4 inches x 4 1/4 inches, fixture extension measures 24 inches from mount.
