two matching hard to find c. 1914 american vintage industrial explosion or vapor proof light bulb guards comprised of impact-resistant glass. the manufacturer markings are lightly etched on the surface. the "sun purple" tint is caused by an interaction between prolonged sun exposure (i.e., ultraviolet rays) and the chemical element manganese, often used in older glass as a stabilizer. the threaded end "jars" were likely used in interior and exterior factory light fixtures. priced individually.
