set of refinished and reconfigured cast iron ball joint socket ceiling or wall-mount light fixtures designed and fabricated by the faries mfg. co., decatur, ills. the factory light fixture canopies were used in conjunction with the number "6a" adjustable brackets. the late 19th century ball joint sockets are comprised of wood with wear consistent with age and use. the industrial fitting can rotate and/or adjust to any position or placement. the integrated pipe was designed for holding faries brackets, which were made for factory bench work, machine shops and drafting rooms. the cast iron ball joint fixtures with patents pending, were salvaged from the crane brothers foundry and/or factory shortly before demolition. the adjustable fixtures were used on each floor, but only a few remained amazingly intact. the fixtures have been rewired with period appropriate braided cloth cord. the ceramic sockets are outfitted with benjamin swivel sockets. priced for the pair.
