all original and intact massive four-legged heavy solid quartered oak wood factory office desk manufactured by the globe-wernicke co., cincinnati, oh. the oversized "tigerstripe" desk was originally used by the superintendent of a large-scale factory complex located on the southwest side of chicago. the administrative office desk retains the original emerald green leather or leatherette inset with surface wear consistent with age. the original varnished finish remains in great overall condition, considering age. the c. 1920's stationary desk contains four slightly tapered post legs with heavy cast brass "shoes" or caps. the two matching dovetailed joint sliding drawers with raised panels are original to the desk. great overall condition, considering age. measures 72 x 38 x 31 1/4 inches.
