american made late 19th century ornamental cast bronze metal "americus" pattern interior vestibule door backplate or escutcheon salvaged from a chicago graystone residence, built around 1887. the oversized doorknob backplate was fabricated by the reading hardware co., reading. pa. features richly detailed foliated scrollwork. measures approximately 10 1/2 x 2 3/8 inches.
