original late 1930's american vintage industrial brushed cold-rolled steel "simmons" compartmentalized lowboy mobile dresser with original casters

desirable american vintage industrial depression era "simmons" brushed metal interior hospital room lowboy dresser cabinet designed and patented albert witke et al. in 1932. the highly durable "sheet metal" furniture piece was fabricated by the simmons manufacturing company, kenosha, wi. the lowboy cabinet contains four sliding drawers with contrasting copper knob pulls. the legs retain the original pressed steel swivel casters (likely bassick). simmons was known for their furniture and bedding, designed especially for "hospitals, hotels, tourist cabins and steamships. uniform brushed metal finish throughout. surface treated with a clear coat lacquer. measures approximately 40 x 19 x 37".
