fully functional early 20th century century antique american made fully functional three-movement vault door time clock fabricated by the yale & towne mfg. co., stamford, ct. the compact interior basement vault door time clock was salvaged from the historically important noel bank building. the chronometric yellow brass sophisticated vault clock was used with the multi-bolt work safe door that would be automatically dogged or locked and unlocked at predetermined times. the "dogging" and releasing would be activated by the operation of the time mechanism and/or operator. the machined case retains the original hinged door with viewable central glass pane and winding holes with intact swinging covers. the clock's movements were likely manufactured by seth thomas. the time lock case features a unique machined circular design motif on the exterior casing. the three intact white porcelain or vitreous enameled dials are in great condition. the extant noel state bank building, located in the wicker park neighborhood of chicago, is a classic example of an american neoclassical style bank building designed by the architectural firm of weary & alford for joseph noel, who founded the north west savings bank in 1905. the bank building was completed in 1920 and now is home to walgreens. measures 7 x 3 x 4 1/4 inches.
