original and fully operational c. 1880's american antique ornamental cast iron residential door rim dead lock designed and fabricated by branford lock works, branford, ct. the original keeper or catch and working solid round key are included. the single solid steel dead bolt is fully functional. the original baked black enameled or "japanned" finish remains in great condition, considering age. found in an old milwaukee hardware store. measures 6 x 3 1/4 x 3/4 inches.
