original american 19th century victorian era interior ornamental cast bronze pullman railroad passenger car lockset with intact sliding privacy latch. the van-gogh-esque designed lock box retains the original functional cast iron latch bolt. original keeper intact. likely fabricated by the adams & westlake, elkhart, ind. the surface-mount lock and knob contain a mostly uniform naturally aged surface patina. the adams & westlake was founded in 1857 in chicago, illinois. in the beginning, they began manufacturing and selling railroad supplies and hardware. with the opening of the american west and expansion of the railroads, the company prospered and diversified. within 45 years, adlake became one of the largest suppliers of equipment to the transportation industry in the world. in 1927, adlake relocated to its present site in elkhart, indiana. measures 5 1/8 x 5 1/2 inches.
