single all original and intact early 1930's antique american industrial rolled rim chicago cook county courts building office waste basket or trash can manufactured by the northwestern expanded metal co., chicago, il. the green painted waste or trash can is structurally sound and stable. the low-lying and lightweight office can was designed and patented by joseph jantusek on january 30, 1923. the basket is composed of a single section of sheet metal which is "slitted and expanded" to form a uniform diamond mesh. the flared top with rolled rim or hoop is intact. hard to find and highly desirable size. embossed manufacturer markings on the bottom.
