single all original and intact chicago privy dug salt glazed stoneware bottle with lip faded from a dark cobalt blue manufactured for chicago-based bottler joseph jerusalem. the pint sized mead shaped beer bottle has sloping shoulders and a squat neck finished with an applied tapered lip. the body has some variation in color, and is impressed with a stamp on the lower body that reads “j. jerusalem / chicago”. there is a small flat chip near the base. german immigrant joseph jerusalem ran a small brewery (1869-1887) specializing in weiss beer, a light-colored, effervescent ale that was made from top fermented malted wheat. the bottle contains a deeply incised letter "n" along the base. the exact fabricator is not known.
