{"product_id":"original-c-1930-s-single-sided-die-cut-steel-porcelain-enameled-burglar-alarm-exterior-bank-building-arched-sign","title":"original c. 1930's single-sided die cut steel porcelain enameled \"burglar alarm\" exterior bank building arched sign","description":"depression era c. 1930's vintage american industrial single-sided die cut steel porcelain enameled \"burglar alarm\" flush mount sign salvaged from an old chicago bank building. the semicircular sign was fabricated by the veribrite sign co., chicago, il. the sign was mounted against the exterior alarm box. the porcelain enameled finish remains largely intact, with only slight wear along the mounting holes. incorporated in 1908, the o.b. mcclintock company of minneapolis was a major player in the distribution and installation of vault burglar alarm systems, sold primarily to banks, commercial buildings and other urban structures well into the 20th century. the company merged with the american bank protection company in 1923 and later was taken over by diebold in 1947. numerous banks across the country had one of their burglar alarm boxes mounted on the exterior side of the building. these boxes were operated by a control panel found within the vault and triggered by a switch inside the vault door and\/or push buttons at each teller cage. if the vault door was opened before the opening hour in the morning, or if a teller would push the button during the day, a signal would send the current from the round dry cell batteries (within the panel) to the bell inside the alarm box. the vintage burglar alarm sign measures 17 1\/4 x 9 inches.","brand":"vendor-unknown","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":50669532971306,"sku":"UR-12797-12","price":350.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0959\/7075\/4858\/files\/20120201-014m_2.jpg?v=1760236882","url":"https:\/\/urbanremainschicago.com\/products\/original-c-1930-s-single-sided-die-cut-steel-porcelain-enameled-burglar-alarm-exterior-bank-building-arched-sign","provider":"Urban Remains Chicago","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
