american depression era vintage industrial cold-rolled furniture sheet steel steel "ediphone" cabinet manufactured by thomas a. edison, inc., orange, nj. the heavy gauge steel cabinet originally housed a patented machine for shaving wax-like sound-record tablets or cylinders. the cabinet contains a streamlined hinged cover with chrome-plate handle. the spacious single compartment cabinet retains the original drop-down door with chrome knob pull. a single pull-out drawer with handle housed the wax shavings. the four angled steel legs with original steel swivel casters are tightly affixed to the cabinet. brushed metal finish with traces of a copper-plated finish. originally finished in an olive green baked enamel. measures 14 x 15 x 32 inches.
