early american vintage industrial nickel-plated "lyhne" portable desk or table lamp manufactured by the beers sales co., bridgeport, ct. originally designed and patented by anker s. lyhne in 1911. the c. 1912 portable lamp contains a weighted cast iron base with deeply embossed underside lettering. the rotating arm joint retains the original dial handle. the baseplate and rolled rim parabola-shaped reflector are comprised of pressed or stamped steel with embossed ornament consisting of elaborate palm leaves and foliated scrollwork. the original socket casing contains a yellow brass bryant key socket rewired with period appropriate braided cloth cord. surface wear consistent with age.
